My exhibition consists of strongly manipulated digital photographs
and
a DVD projection based on those photographs. In these slightly
antropomorphic works there are perhaps some features from subjective
photography, conceptual art and surrealism, not forgetting dada.
Patinated, old and used things have always fascinated my imagination.
In the dark corners of warehouses and flea markets I have found
these objects with some kind of “ready-made” character
and charisma. The common thing in these found objects in this
exhibition is that they are mostly made out of metal and I have
tried to make their humane features more visible.
Most of the photographs were made in 2003, but the oldest one
got its first form already in 2001. DVD projection is the latest
work in this exhibition and it was finished in autumn 2003. With
the projection I can show some of the hundreds of photographs
that were shot during the whole process of making this exhibition.
Perhaps they can also give some clues about the background and
the ideas behind the works. Also, with the projection I have
tried to create a more spatial and comprehensive experience of
the exhibition by using digital videoanimation and sound. The
projection was designed originally in wall size with wide stereo
sound.
